Privacy Policy

Cookbo doesn't collect any data. There are no accounts, no analytics and no ads, and the app has no servers of its own. Your recipes live on your device and, if you use it, in your own iCloud Drive.

Your recipes

Your recipes, photos and categories are saved as plain files on your device. If iCloud Drive is on, they sync through your own iCloud account, which Apple handles under its iCloud terms and privacy policy. Cookbo never has access to them.

Importing from the web

When you import a recipe from a link, or share one to Cookbo, the app downloads that page and its photo directly from the site so it can pull out the recipe. For Instagram links, it asks Instagram’s public embed service for the post’s caption.

These requests go straight from your device to those sites, not through anyone else. As with any web page you open, the site can see that it was requested from your device.

Permissions

• Photos: to add a photo to a recipe. The photos you choose are saved with your recipes and aren’t uploaded anywhere else.
• Reminders: to add an ingredient to your Groceries list when you ask. Cookbo only looks up your lists to find Groceries and adds the item you chose. It doesn’t read your existing reminders.

What Cookbo doesn’t collect

• Personal information, like your name, email or account details
• Usage data or analytics
• Crash reports sent to third parties
• Device identifiers
• Location
• Your recipes

This website

The recipe import demo on the home page sends the link you paste to a small Cookbo service on Google Cloud, which fetches that page and sends back just the recipe. Apart from keeping recent links and their recipes in memory for up to six hours, so the same link loads faster, it doesn’t store or log them.

As with any web service, Google Cloud keeps standard request logs, such as your IP address, browser and the time of the request, for 30 days.

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages and uses no cookies, analytics or trackers.

Children’s privacy

Cookbo doesn’t knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here. Since Cookbo collects no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
