Frequently Asked Questions

How do I save a recipe from a website?
While viewing a recipe in Safari (or any browser), tap the Share button and select Cookbo from the share sheet. The app will extract the ingredients and steps automatically.
Why didn't my recipe import correctly?
Most major recipe sites are supported. Some sites use non-standard formats that may not parse perfectly. You can always edit any recipe after importing — just tap Edit in the recipe detail view.
How does iCloud sync work?
Cookbo stores recipes as plain text files in your iCloud Drive. As long as you're signed into the same Apple ID on all your devices, recipes sync automatically across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Can I use Cookbo without iCloud?
Yes. If iCloud is not setup on your device, the app will simply keep recipes on-device only. You can always setup iCloud later, and sync files across devices.
Where are my recipe files stored?
If using iCloud, your files live in iCloud Drive › Cookbook › Cookbooks — visible in the Files app on iOS or Finder on Mac. Each recipe is a plain JSON file you can open, back up, or move freely.
How do I add ingredients to Apple Reminders?
In any recipe, long-press an ingredient to get the option to add it to Reminders. This lets you take your shopping list into Apple's Reminders app.
What devices and OS versions are supported?
Cookbo requires iOS 17 / iPadOS 17 / macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email jbobrow+cookbo@gmail.com with a description of the bug or your idea. All feedback is read and appreciated.
